March: A Month of Awareness!

There seems to be a month and day for everything! I enjoy seeing all of the different holidays, awareness days, and observances in my calendar, they are often unfamiliar and provoke a bit of research.
March in particular is carrying a lot.
It is #NationalDevelopmentalDisabilitiesAwarenessMonth, #DeafHistoryMonth, #BisexualHealthAwarenessMonth, and #WomensHistoryMonth.
Today is #Dyscalculia Awareness Day.
Sunday marked both the #Disability Day of Mourning and International Wheelchair Day.
And Neurodiversity Celebration Week is also around the corner #NCW2026.
That is a lot to hold at once. Celebration, grief, visibility, advocacy, history, and ongoing work.
If you or your organization are wondering what to do with all of this, here are a few grounded starting points:
• Pay disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent people for their expertise when you invite them to present or speak for your team.
• Share resources that go beyond inspiration and into practical change.
• Make space for disability grief alongside pride and celebration.
• Learn something specific this month instead of something generic
Awareness without action is noise, but performative action helps no one either.
🌈 ♾️ 💜 🧙♀️ On a personal note, as a neurodivergent, bisexual, woman, March lands close to home for me. There is definitely pride and celebration here!
I love celebrating these aspects of my identity alongside others in my communities and having the opportunity to enter into spaces where I can educate and equip groups of people who are brand new to understanding these identities and their significance.
And there is fatigue, too. There is also a deep reminder of why this work matters so much.
If you are marking any of these observances this month, I would love to hear what you or your organization are doing!
